SEPTEMBER 2021 GENERAL

  • There is no requirement for schools to organise children in ‘bubbles’, so these will not exist
  • We will continue to anti-bac hands regularly and encourage good hand washing too
  • We will continue to ensure that classrooms have good ventilation
  • We will continue to require anyone who confirms a positive case of COVID-19 to isolate
  • In line with government guidance, from 16th August children under the age of 18 years old and those who have been fully vaccinated will no longer be required to self-isolate if they are contacted by NHS Test and Trace as a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case
  • Face coverings are no longer a requirement for staff and visitors but you may choose to wear one
  • We will prepare an outbreak management plan for use if there are multiple cases of COVID-19 in a 14-day period
  • Water fountains will remain out of use so children will need to bring in water bottles from home
  • Additional cleaning of classrooms and corridors will continue
  • One-way systems in corridors and stairwells will be removed
  • The staggered start to the school day will be removed (details set out below)

 

 

START/END OF THE SCHOOL DAY

  • Year R
    • 08:45 start
    • 15:30 finish (Fridays 13:15 for non-Friday Clubs)
    • Entry and exit via Milton Road gate only (Gates open at 08:40 and 15:30)
    • Year R will be dismissed from the Year R playground area

 

  • Year 1 and 2
    • 08:45 start
    • 15:30 finish (Fridays 13:15 for non-Friday Clubs)
    • Entry and exit via Chaucer Road gate only
    • Children will come in via classroom doors for 1/2A, 2K and 2S
    • 1D and 1T will come in via Year 5/6 entrance, through to classrooms, Year 6 monitors and Staff will support with this
    • At end of day 1D will be dismissed from the wooden shelter and 1T from the new umbrella shelter on the Canterbury Street playground 1/2A, 2K and 2S will be dismissed from their classroom doors

 

  • Year 3 and 4
    • 08:45 start
    • 15:30 finish (Fridays 13:15 for non-Friday Clubs)
    • Entry and exit via Milton Road gate only
    • Children will come in via the Y3/4 door
    • At end of day 3/4G will be dismissed from wall outside their classroom, 3F and 3S from the Year 3/4 exit door, 4Sm and 4St from outside the black PE shed

 

  • Year 5 and 6
    • 08:45 start
    • 15:30 finish (Fridays 13:15 for non-Friday Clubs)
    • Entry and exit via Chaucer Road gate only
    • Children will come in via Y5/6 door (on dry days, they will be held on playground to allow initial arrival of Y1 pupils through the door first)
    • At end of the day children will be dismissed from class lines on playground. Children with permission to walk home (permission will be sought) alone will be released before parents are let onto the playground

 

 

PE DAYS

PE days will be advertised for each class.  Children should continue to come to school on ‘PE days’ in their PE kit. 

 

PE Kit must consist of the following:

 

  • A plain white t-shirt
  • A pair of jogging bottoms (Black, Navy or Grey)
  • A pair of shorts (Black, Navy or Grey)
  • A plain sweatshirt or hoodie (Black, Navy or Grey)
  • Trainers

SCHOOL MEALS

We have appointed a new catering contractor for next year called CH&Co.  All infant aged children will continue to receive a school meal for free if they want one as part of the government scheme.  In addition, children registered for Free School Meals will also continue to do so for the duration of the registration.

 

School meals will increase slightly in price from September to £2.00 per day.

 

School meals must be ordered and where required, paid for online and in advance.  More details will follow in an email before the start of the school year, once the system has been set up.

 

 

BREAKFAST AND AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

  • Breakfast Club will return to a 07:40 start and will be in the hall
  • Parents to drop off via office
  • After School Club will be 15:30-17:30 from class 3/4G
  • Parents to collect via 3/4G fire door having entered the site at the Byron Road entrance
  • Breakfast and After School Club is now open to 4-year olds in year R as well as those aged 5-11

FRIDAY CLUBS

Year 1-6 registration has closed for clubs on Friday afternoons for Terms 1 and 2.

 

Children will remain in phase-based clubs on a Friday afternoon covering a range of activities over the two terms.  Children will also have the opportunity to access Multi-Sports, Dance and Food Technology sessions during this time too.  These will all be free.

 

Unlike previous years, there will be no option for a 14:30 pick up.  Children staying to Friday Clubs will be dismissed at 15:30 from the same locations as the other week days.

 

Registration for the new Year R to attend Friday Clubs will be sent out in early September.

 

 

ON-SITE SUMMER WORKS

The following projects are taking place on-site over the summer in addition to the usual end of school year works:

  • Installation of an Umbrella Shade on the Canterbury Street playground
  • External repairs and painting to the library on the Milton Road playground
  • Internal painting of the library
  • Painting of Tennyson Room
  • Remedial works on all pupil toilet blocks
  • Installation of a new display screen in the hall
